The characteristics of Arabic is the reason. Every language has its own way of expressing. The word “Akil’’ which means mind is an originally Arabic word used in Turkish. The real meaning of the word Akil is to ‘’bind’’. The clever person binds himself not to do wrong and to make the right thing. The original word that means Akil in Turkish is “us”. The ‘’Uslu’’ child in Turkish means the child who is well-behaved.
Being clever and well-behaved is something related with the heart. Both well-behaved and bad-behaved people have hearts. But we call the person who treats others in a bad way ‘’heartless’’, not ‘’mindless’’. And we call the person who does mistakes and hurts himself ‘’mindless’’, not ‘’heartless’’.
Will destroy us because of what the mindless people among us did?.. (Araf Surah, 155)
“The fact is: Our mindless people, said a lot of nonsense things about Allah.” (Cin Surah, 4)
Some of the mindless people: “What is that turned them from their previous directions?” “ (Bakara Surah, 142)
In the Circassion language, the action of thinking and understanding is linked to the heart. This is the characteristics of the language. If the Quran was in Circassian language, the ‘’heart’’ would be the thought organ. But it would be ‘’mind’’ of it was in Turkish.
People think that mind and intelligence is the same thing. Intelligence is something related to the organization of the mind. Mind is that the human being behaves accordingly to the Quran and as a result of this earn a perfection in thoughts and behaviours in his life where he will use his conscience until he dies. The mind which is related to the brain is different than the mind which is related to the heart and conscience.
Allah says the following in his verse, ”… The hearts are satisfied just by mentioning Allah.” (Ra’d Surah, 28). In another verse it says that those whose hearts are satisfied and get advices are the ones who have a clean mind. The cleanliness of mind is a characteristics gained by preferring the conscience instead of desires. The conscience is related to the heart and not to the brain. The desires are contrary to the conscience. The conscience and desires are always in conflict. Those people who do not behave according to their conscience are called”…their hearts are sick…” (Bakara Surah, 10) they do not hear the voice of their conscience because they value their desires and ”Thus their hearts are sealed, they cannot understand anymore.” (Münafikun Surah, 3)
The below verse emphasizes that the mind/conscience is in the heart and the hearts of the ‘’mindless’’ people are sealed:
Do not they witness what happens in the world, so that they can have hearts to think with and ears to hear with? In fact, the eyes do not be blind, but the hearts become blind. (Hac Surah, 46)
They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, they have ears with which they do not hear. (Araf Surah, 179)
