Let’s respond to a contradiction claim which was raised without enough consideration.
Allah says in al An’am Surah verse 32 that, “The life of this world is nothing but game and distraction.” There is a remainder in al-‘Ankabut Surah verse 64 that “The life of this world is nothing but diversion and play…”
Allegedly, while these two verses notify us that the life of this world is nothing but games and entertainment; he contradicts with himself by saying “And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play.” In ad-Dukhan Surah verse 38.
Of course, there is no contradiction between the verses. When you read the verses before the first two verses, you will see that they mention those who thinks reaching Allah is a lie. Lifes of these people is mentioned in the first two verses. It declares that blasphemy is thinking that the life in the World consists of games, transient pleasure and fun. ad-Dukhan Surah 38th verse reminds us that Allah didn’t create world life as a game or entertainment. In other words, he highlights the wrongs of those who do not believe in afterlife and after that it is said that the life of world is aimless, the real life is the life at afterlife by saying “We created them only for a specific purpose, but most of them do not know.”.
A verse says that “Allah has sent down the best of narrations: A Scripture consistent and paired.…” (az-Zumar Surah, 23). There are many double similar definitions in the Qur’an. For example, in a verse Allah says “And We placed on earth stabilizers, lest it sways with them…” (al-Anbiya Surah, 31). In another verse he says “And you see the mountains, and imagine them fixed, yet they pass…” (an-Naml Surah, 88). (1) These are double similar expressions. They show us different and superior expression of Qur’an.
Allah notifies that there is sickness in the hearth of those who searches for contradictions with wrong comments and creates disorder by saying “Some of its verses are definitive; they are the foundation of the Book, and others are unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow the unspecific part, seeking dissent, and seeking to derive an interpretation.…” (Ali ‘Imran Surah, 7).
As a result, there is no slightest contradiction between the verses.
