Is Qur’an being a hard book to understand?

Some atheists and those who have a traditional understanding argue that the Qur’an is a difficult Book to understand, and that their verses are closed, and not clear. These allegations are not made only recently, they came to our day form centruies of years ago and they are very wrong, unfounded and far from sincerity. Because the Qur’an has a language and narrative feature that people of all ages and cultures can easily understand.

According to the Qur’an, the Qur’an itself is “beyyine” (have clear evidences). The statement of Beyyine was used as clear evidence in the Qur’an. Let’s examine the 42nd verse of the Enfal sura, which have the expression “Beyyine”;

Thus, the person to be destroyed shall be destroyed after an CLEAR EVIDENCE (beyyine), and the person to remain alive shall remain alive after a CLEAR EVIDENCE (beyyine). (Enfal Surah, 42)

According to the Qur’an, humans must have “beyyine” (clear evidence). In other words, the practices by the logic of « We saw it that way so we are doing the same » according to the traditions, finding truth with the acceptation of many doesn’t comply with the Islam which was described in Qur’an. According to the Qur’an, Qur’an itself is « beyyine » (have clear evidence). Therefore, only those who make the Qur’an the only source of the religion complies with the open evidence.

In the Qur’an, the verses are divided into two groups as strong and cognate verses (Ali Imran Surah, 7). The Quranic strong verses are all clear, understandable, explicit and detailed. Can we say the same things in the cognate verses? Allah divides the verses that It sends, and make statement in this regard. It says we have sent the strong verses which you are responsible for clearly, understandable and explained them with examples before anything else so that you can understand. It wants to direct ourselves with the provisions of these verses. He also explains that these verses are the mother, basis of religion. As the name implies, STRONG VERSES ARE EXPLAINED ROBUSTLY, CLEARLY THAT NO ONE CAN HAVE A DOUBT. Thus, our Lord reveals in his supreme verses;

Elif, Lam, Ra. (This,) IS A BOOK WHOSE VERSES ARE strong, and explained by the powerful, wise and all knowing (ALLAH) one by one (chapter by chapter) (fussilet).(Hud Surah,1)

And We have certainly sent down to you DISTINCT (Beyyine) verses and examples from those who passed on before you and an admonition for those who fear Allah. (Nur Surah, 34). [Refer to Isra Sura 41,İsra Sura 89, Enam Sura, 65, Araf Sura, 5]

Allah wants the understanding of the Qur’an and its verses to be considered thoroughly. However, in order to avoid mistakes while thinking about the verses, he orders to be more careful in particular about the cognate ones.

Despite these explanations of the Qur’an, rumor religion members are presenting the evidence that the Prophet explained the Qur’an with the verses 44 and 64 of Nahl Surah, and therefore

says that Quran needed to be explained. We will again prove the falsehood of this false claim from the Qur’an. For this reason, it is sufficient for us to first look at how the Qur’an used it to see what the phrase “litubeyyine” means.

What the phrase “Litubeyine” means in the Qur’an;

The meaning of this expression in al-Imran Surah (187) and Maidah Surah (15) are

the opposite of the terms “hiding something, hiding it for themselves”.

“when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, “You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it.” But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. And wretched is that which they purchased!” (Ali İmran Surah, 187)

“O People of the Scriptur! There has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.” (Maide Surah, 15)

Finally, let us examine the use of it in al-Baqara Surah:

“There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong.” (Baqara Surah, 256)

As the verses clearly indicate, the expression “litubeyyine” has been used throughout the Qur’an as “open”, “non-confidential” and “the opposite of being kept secret”.

Allah reveals everything in the Qur’an. And the Qur’an is made easy. It is not true to say that everyone doesn’t understand the Quran when this is the case. Allah knows the humans best. (Necm, 32). Allah has revealed explanation and solutions of every matter in the Qur’an for mankind to come out of the darkness to light.

“Then upon Us is its (Qur’an) (beyânehu) CLARIFICATION” (Al-Qiyamah Surah, 19)

Some think that meanings of the cognate verses are understandable but it is not right trying to understand the them, and suggests that they are incomprehensible. In the Qur’an, the situation is not like the allegations. Because it is necessary to observe the scientific method necessary to understand the cognate verses and to be away from pre-emptive provisions.

And lastly, if you want to understand the Qur’an;

You will not forget that the Qur’an is sufficient and complete. You will make Qur’an the center of your life and clean the filth around you.

You will read it in the language you understand and search answers to the question of which messages does it give us. In the Qur’an there is absolutely information exceeds comprehensions, but this information never conflicts with reason.

You will begin to read slowly from an easy point and think about it. You won’t forget praying as “O God! Increase my knowledge” and you won’t be hasty.

Allah, addresses to intelligent people. If you still do not understand and see it inadequate, you will search the inadequacy on yourself, not the Quran.

Most important of all, you will not forget that you won’t acquire merit by reading it and creating sound in a language you don’t understand, it is something that leads your life and you must live in accordance with it…
